Most Americans do. Your lack of understanding is truly appalling to me. Slavery. Lynchings. Jim Crow. Discrimination for 100+ years. Even more recently penalties for crack cocaine (used primarily by blacks) being WAY beyond the penalties for the snorted cocaine (used primarily by whites). When I was a kid, I moved from New Jersey to Arkansas and I remember being terrified for blacks (or "African-Americans") who were protesting. I suspect my terror on their behalf paled in comparison to their terror on their own behalf. I oppose racists like Jesse Jackson and Sharpton and I oppose the racism of affirmative action, etc. But that doesn't mean i have to pretend that there is no racism today and never has been.

As I mentioned in a separate comment, many of the facts or, more accurately, the reports were still spilling out during and after this was written. But my point is that the justice system needs to act and that an alert public can make certain that happens. I think the public response has been good, even as the local police response seems inadequate. I'm not concerned with validating your concept of "a real conservative." The fixation on whether someone says "black" (which is obviously inadequate from a clear understanding of the color spectrum) or "African American" seems silly. Your jumping to conclusions about Trayvon's geography expertise seems to be nothing more than your conjecture.

When this story was written, the reports of the Black Panthers acting in the vicious, stupid and irresponsible way they have had not yet surfaced. Further, there was not yet any report that Zimmerman was bleeding from the altercation, which I still haven't seen officially confirmed, but has been reported enough now that I gather it is so. But my whole point doesn't have to do with the facts of the case, but with the importance of a thorough and credible investigation into the case. That's my point.

There may have been an investigation, but for the public to be watching and demanding one helps ensure one happens. That is our job as concerned citizens.

Cave? Were the supposed to oppose a full investigation? With what facts we know, it seems untenable to suggest an investigation isn't warranted. Media-bias and professional race-exploiters don't justify our showing bias or looking at things through a racial lens.

A Miami Herald report said his suspension was for being in an unauthorized place and not for any act of violence. Still, it is pathetic that the media hasn't reported more on it.

The USDA-Approved Christmas Tree Cartel

My wife and I are the opposite. She's tired of the pine needle mess and I like the fresh scent of a recently alive Christmas tree. So far, with lobbying help from my kids, I've been winning. But the economics may tilt the decision in my wife's favor.
