Both my parents were teachers. Mom stayed in the junior and senior high schools, devoted to the kids and Dad went into the college level and then the voc-tech giving all he could to his students. Both of them, all through the years, fought having the unions invade their schools. Their best expression of the fight was made by my mom when she said, "The unions want to divide the administration (principals and superintendents) and the teachers and create a fight between us. But we get along just fine and don't need their division. We're simply working in the students favor." Both parents retired in the late 80s and others weren't as successful at keeping the unions out of the schools in Boulder, CO.
