I have read several articles on this and there was NO mention that his genitals were "misformed" in any way. They took him to ONE psychologist who "confirmed" that he was indeed "transgendered" and now they're going with it. First of all, who wouldn't at least get a second opinion for crying out loud? And why would you not see a more qualified person...a psychiatrist perhaps who understands the science of the body as well as the mind. This poor child is basically being abused. What 4 year old says, "when are you going to take me to the doctor and change my parts to make me a girl"? ...only one who has an adult putting that kind of thought i their mind.

Nope.

A sex difference in the human brain and its relation to transsexuality. by Zhou et al Nature (1995) 378:68–70.

Our study is the first to show a female brain structure in genetically male transsexuals and supports the hypothesis that gender identity develops as a result of an interaction between the developing brain and sex hormones

Girl brain, boy genitalia.

Those stories are a whole lot different than the 6 year old boy, who was born with the right genitalia.

There is also the case of Penny Sautereau-Fife, a Canadian blogger who related her horror story online and concluded her story by advising, “The choice should always be the child’s, when they’re old enough to understand.”

She was unaware of having been born with both male and female genitalia until, as an adult, she was undergoing what she thought was a male-to-female transformation. Doctors then discovered that she had a uterus and ovaries, and she uncovered medical records that revealed her intersex birth. Her vagina had been closed at birth, but her uterus and one ovary were functional, so she had a painful menstruation internally every month with no place to put a tampon.

No, that doesn't apply in this case, but it does illustrate that kids instinctively know their gender regardless of what the genitals tell us. The classic John/Joan case, which involved a man who was eventually known as David Reimer, started with a botched circumcision. Dr. John Money decided he could make the child female, and for years he touted this fraud as a "successful" sex reassignment. But David never felt like Brenda, and eventually stopped taking hormones and lived as a man. Unfortunately, his troubled life ended in suicide.

So, while doctors used to "assign" a gender to kids born with both sets of genitals, they no longer do. The kids, not the doctors, now decide their gender on their own when they are old enough.

Journey back with me, if you will, to a simpler time. To a dark and ominous period known as American history up until now.

An oppressive period when society actually believed the genitals you left your mother’s womb with determined your gender. A tyrannical time when parents actually parented according to the acknowledged moral standard of the universe, rather than enabling and validating their offspring’s unhealthy tantrums and desires.

Thankfully we’ve progressed past that now.

We are entering a brave new world. A world where a 6-year old boy in Colorado Springs demanding he’s actually a girl isn’t thought to...
