The difference between conservatives and liberals in America is that liberals still use those precepts, fast-forwarded two and a quarter centuries later, while conservatives act as though the science of THAT era is the legit expression of the Founder's moral rationality. We liberals think that our rational moral understanding evolves alongside our scientific understanding. We liberals use a macro, a big picture, that reflects workings quite differently than immediate self-interest. You "conservatives" use invisible hand theory, what L. Randall Wray called "an intellectual weapon of mass destruction," a childish depiction of what occurs in the real world. And as a result, under right-wing hegemony in the decades since Reagan, America has eroded--become less civilized, less orderly, less decent, and less humane.
