It is not merely the growing irrelevance of the Church, Pat. It is the overwhelming loss in the individual citizen of his heart's engagement with God as a living presence. The youth have a great hunger for spiritual truths, but they are impatient with dogma. We need strong leaders who can renew in our young people that love of God with us, as He was with George Washington and the early patriots. Only then can we turn things around. When the Founders signed the Dec. of Independence, they were signing a Covenant with God, a covenant of sovereignty. We have to demolish the education system and reignite that same understanding in our youth. It is the foundation of our Republic and its purpose for being.

Patriotafire, the young are not so impatient with dogma in the burgeoning faith. Look up the interviews with the countless young doing the marches for life across the globe. After the directionless babble of relativism they are positively embracing dogma.

We DO however need to abolish the education system, I agree. The sexual revolution and the hijack of education by government not coincidentally preceded the culture of death.

"To govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me."

With those brave, wise, simple words, Benedict XVI announced an end of his papacy. How stands the Church he has led for eight years?

While he could not match the charisma of his predecessor, John Paul II, his has been a successful papacy. He restored some of the ancient beauty and majesty...
