While I actually agree marriage should remain between one man and one woman, I would use a different argument as yours (the author) is unsound.

First, consider this: Who are you trying to convince? The average Liberal you are targeting does not believe in God (nor do I, but that's not the point). Your "argument" presumes the existence of God, and given that such Liberals are atheists, your argument can be dismissed outright!

I believe it is entirely possible to argue that marriage is not discriminatory, because you can marry even if you are homosexual, just like anyone else (ie to someone of the opposite gender), or get the "legal" equivilent of a civil union. Moreover, I believe that marriage is a religious...

The Error of Rand Paul

While I agree with what you said to some extent, in that one has to consider the effect one's principles would have had at a dark time in our history when racism was mandated by law, I think you lost me and other conservatives when your arguement suddenly became another example of moral relativism.

You cannot abandon a principle just because it is convenient to do so!

The real error of Paul was to not communicate the Libertarian principle adequately and separate that principle from some attempt to cast the principle as racist.

One can believe that in a free market one can allow some racist fool to choose to run his private business in a racist fashion, and NOT be racist. As you point out, doing so today would be...

Medicalizing Mass Murder

It's "Allah", there is no 'u'. Lived in Saudi for years, and have heard it piped over the loud speakers 5 times per day. It just looks odd to have spelling errors. If you have a reason for putting the 'u', I'd like to hear it. You might check with http://www.jihadwatch.org if you doubt me.
In a real way, it is very difficult to separate the two. I would agree. I really see him as always having been mentally ill, then Islamic, and then as he felt more and more disenfranchised he became more radicalized. His actions then become comprehensible and are in context. To me, the eventual end just took the form it did as he happened to be Islamic. If he had been Christian, then it would have taken another form. But then, I consider anyone who believes in the supernatural to be delusional. Of course, you can be functional and these are socially acceptable and even encouraged delusions.

In any case, to be a "terrorist" he would have to be trying to "terrorize" and get the government to do something, and in my mind he...
Yeah, so fitting! Just glad she is ok, she saved lives and I hope she is not permanently injured as a result of her bravery. And, if this is THE Hannah, great job with Acorn!
For details about how Muslims are being treated in the ways suggest they are not, see the JihadWatch site I noted in another post.
I am very familiar with the Koran Ralph, in fact, I have read it and lived in Muslim countries for years as well as had Muslim friends and patients. In fact, I am well aware of the danger posed by Islam as compared to more moderate cults and have often written to Congress about my concerns. For those wanting to know more I also recommend http://www.jihadwatch.org which is an excellent site to learn of the danger. On the other hand, I think that not all Muslims are created equal. Many do not interprete the Koran literally, much like most Christians do not interprete their Bible literally, particularly the Old Testement. They are no more interested in Jihad or World Domination than you. Even so, I agree there is a vast difference in...
Your first argument (which at least attempts to support your view) is that Christians cannot be evil, by definition. This is also a fallcious argument known as "equivocation". In essence, you are suggesting that for every "evil" Christian I might point out, that he is not a "real" Christian. If I am not mistaken, Christians can sin, and their sin does not make them not Christian, or am I mistaken? While you sin are you "not Christian"? In any case, history cronicles many many evil acts perpetrated by Christians (in addition to Muslims and others). For example, the witch burnings in Salam. Of course, you may still believe in witches and witchcraft, I don't know. If so, then one of many other examples of history can be used. This...
Your ad hominem attack is just an example of what I have pointed out, perhaps you should examine your thoughts and beliefs more carefully and actually say something which supports & defends how your ideas differ.
Again, you make an assertion that I could "use a bit of logic myself", yet you fail to demonstrate support for your assertion by demonstrating even a single example of fallacious logic in my post. I agree with you that in addition to being tragic it was murder and possibly preventable. As more facts emerged in the last 24 hours it seems indeed that he was "off" as early as 2007, when classmates first complained about his class presentations. As I asserted in my post, indeed if it had been recognized for the mental illness it was at the time, this all may have been averted. Sadly, the mental health professionals around him were not well trained in assessment and diagnosis and/or wanted to ignore the signs and symtoms out of...
