The liberal establishment says violence is never the answer, but for young Heynes, it stopped the violence and bullying. When I was growing up, we had a few bullies who preyed on younger or weaker persons. It never happened more than once if some of us were around, because we just took the bully down by whatever means was necessary. Our fathers had come out of WWII, and they knew that there are some people who will not listen to reason, and they taught us to defend the weak and helpless. We did by the swiftest means possible: we asked the bully to stop, and if they would not, we pounded them once, and that was all it took.

Actually, Scott, if you read the context of the Scriptural text, Jesus was talking about his disciples as the least of these. From that one can conclude that he is giving a principle which ought to apply to other people as well, but it is important for you to know what he was actually addressing. Now, having tried to teach you that, what do slaves and NAtive Americans have to do with Republicans? Slavery and clashes with Native American nations were going on long before the Republican party was a party, so your point is? What? I will leave all this now. It is just impossible to communicate with people who think so poorly and are determined to remain dumb.

Kirk, great reply. It sure was Republicans who fought against slavery. It wasn't Republicans who supported Jim Crow through the south and fought against integration--it was the Democrats. Scott knows this, he is just trying to provoke people. He must not have anything better to do or he is just too stupid to be believed.

Scott, you are just jerking us around. No one could be as stupid or confused as your statements make you appear without just deliberately trying to be stupid. We are wasting time with you.

Scott, the person is just asking a question: Do you have a reason for wanting to close the VA? Before we close the VA, we need to have a plan in place for how veterans will be treated who now use the VA. As a Republican and a conservative, I would rather see Veterans get healthcare locally. Small and local is always better, but before shutting down a monolith, we need to see what will happen locally and plan for it before we implode the buildings. Does this make me a supporter of BIG government? No, it makes me a planner and a thinker.

Our duty as citizens is to pay our taxes, but if they become burdensome, unjust or used to no good purpose, we honor the government (render unto Ceasar) by following our Constitution by discussing, objecting, and voting against such measures and the politicians who support them. Thereby we do as Christ told us: we render unto both what is due as citizens of heaven and citizens of this nation.

Scott, have you considered the context of the coin story in Scripture? First, the Pharisees were trying to trap Jesus: if he said they should not pay taxes, they would denounce him to Rome, and if he said they should pay taxes, they would discredit him in the eyes of the Jewish people. What he did was give an answer which is still true today, supported by other Scriptures: God expects us to honor God and our rulers. There is nothing in the text or context of that passage to show Jesus was ambivalent! He said what he meant. We are to honor both. If, when asked to pay taxes to support things clearly at odds with God's teachings, we are to object and try to get the rules changed. That is our duty as Christi's followers. Our duty as cit

do not see the flaws. Your argument that we must support slavery because we honor the founding fathers is too simple. What possible people in history, what possible governemental structure could you support if you can only support one where people have never done any wrong? Your argument is simply silly and childish, and the only persons who would agree with such an argument are others like you, who simply cannot think beyond a grade school developmental level.

Scott, please think abit. All Americans ought to hold our founding fathers and Constitution in high esteem, not because they were perfect people or it is a perfect document, but because, despite their flaws, they created the greatest nation on earth, one where millions of people came to experience freedom and opportunity. That some were slaveholders does not detract from what they did, it only shows it was remarkable they were able, at that time, to do as much as they did to lay the groundwork for freedom. What we understand and hold dear about our history does not blind us to its flaws and sins, but it makes us appreciate what they did to rectify the wrongs. Just because we honor the good things they did historically does not mean we
