Greenpeace continually harass Japanese and Scandinavian fishermen who legally hunt whales. For these people, the sea is a major source o9f food, and whales are a major food source. Whale meat is not, as Greenpeace claims, a delicacy.

The whales and fishermen whom Greenpeace ships smash into are victims of assault and battery, and have every right to defend themselves. I doubt every member of Greenpeace is a vegetarian or vegan.

By the way, the Japanese also eat dolphins (the mammal as well as the fish) and porpoises. Properly prepared, they taste like pork. That's right, they're eating "Flipper," and I say so what? What makes them so special?

Does Greenpeace try to stop Russians and other Europeans from eating...
It's always been wrong. Only now we do something about it. And who says all those women were willing? Because they didn't sue? They knew that with CBS's lawyers they'd collect little if anything and would be blackballed from the industry. Nobody wants a whistle-blower. You seem to forget that Letterman reveled in exposing the hypocrisy of others. What's your excuse? That he never claimed to be a moral man? That's lame. Many of his victims never did either. Letterman never admitted he wasn't either until he got caught - little boy.
The only thing that will hurt Letterman is if the women weren't willing or they felt pressured to sleep with him if they wanted to advance in their careers. Apparently he's as bad as Alex Rogriguez, the baseball star he also hounded without mercy. Most of Letterman's fans are the kind of people who see no wrong in what he's doing, but constantly remind conservatives about the one sexual harassment complaint against Bill O'Reilly. I know he won't be fired, but I hope those women make Letterman pay through the nose.

I'm a teacher and at my high school, kids regularly eat pizza with french fries and high-sugar fruit drinks for lunch. Plus, TV isn't the only villain keeping them indoors. Computer and video games are just as bad, if not worse. I've got nothing against snack cakes, candy bars, burgers, or pizza, but too much is too much. However, I am opposed to vegetarianism too. I also fear the "plant-based diet" fanatics will try to use the obesity problem to directly and indirectly force their views on us.

I disagree that race was a factor. There are loads of white and Hispanic single mothers too. But kids do imitate what they see. Plus, a young mother dressing in a sexy mini-skirt for a date probably isn't interested in being overly protected, and don't say I'm making excuses for date rape. A child hitting an adult is a potentially dangerous act. It's okay for late night, but not during the Super Bowl when kids are watching, many with their mother's boyfriends, some of whom have had one too many beers.

The riots in Iran, the national health care issue, the Sanford scandal, and the climate bill have all disappeared from the headlines. Why? Because Michael Jackson finally dropped dead! Even Fox is treating his death like a great tragedy. He was well past his peak and his perversions and mental illness were well known. His premature end was inevitable.

How ironic that Mr. Gainor starts his column "With apologies to Janet Jackson."
By dying, Michael Jackson has served the Democrats better than he ever did alive. They'll be able to swiftly pass several stupid bills without publicity before the Jackson furor dies down.

I know of several men who were or have been married decades and cheated constantly.

Although I have been tempted to cheat during my nearly 33 years of marriage, I have never cheated. Why not?

1. My still-lovely wife is Hispanic (Puerto Rican).

2. Lorena Bobbit.

Need I say any more?
