To quote John Hayward, "According to the Congressional Budget Office, when Julia is 18 years old, the weight of Barack Obama’s debt will cause the entire national economy to shut down." I notice that the collapse of Medicare, Social Security, and the entire economy under the weight of federal debt doesn't make it into Obama's narrative of Julia's life. What does Julia do when she's 18 and, instead of all the nice things Obama is promising, she finds herself trying to make her way through a collapsed economy bankrupted by politicians?

Why is the "social safety net" a government program? What happened to churches and charities, neighbors and families picking each other up when one of them was down? Why would anyone want a large, remote, government bureaucracy to provide the helping hand rather than a non-profit in the neighborhood that really cares whether or not a person got the individual help they need? It would seem to me that the closer the helping hand is to the person needing help, the better and more effective it would be. On the other hand, enlarging the government increases dependency and government power. Why is that a good thing in anyone's mind?

Over a trillion dollars in new spending and the problem is not enough tax revenue? Exactly what is so efficient and effective about that spending that any "compromise" where money is taken from anyone to support that spending is a good idea? How will you feel when soaking "the rich" turns out to be not enough (and it ISN'T) and they decide we need a VAT on top of the income tax and it is YOU who are getting soaked with both more taxes and higher prices for goods and services? Wouldn't you rather get spending under control?
Not to get too graphic here, but why is it so difficult to understand that there is a tremendous difference psychologically between being a penetrator and a penetratee? Also, why is it difficult for some people to understand that, by nature, a male wants to spread his seed, while a female (pick your species) is looking for a mate that will produce strong offspring. Why do liberals simultaneously believe in Darwinism, and deny that the Darwinian principles that apply to other species also apply to the human? Men and women are different... neither is better than the other. They are simply different. Viva la difference! (or whatever the French spelling would be)
How do you reconcile the map that you say proves global warming with other studies that show no warming on a global scale, and the other studies that prove the models on which the theory is based to be wrong when compared with empirical data (such as the lack of warming at high altitudes)? I'm not asking to be a pain in rear. I'm open minded on the subject, but I find the discrepancies between the models and the real-world data to make it difficult make the claims "alarmists" make. It also makes it difficult to believe in man-caused (anthropogenic) global warming (at least as a significant contributor) as opposed to cycles of the sun, the oceans, etc. And, given the history of ups and downs in global temperature, I still have yet to...
The private entity is elected by the person who buys their service rather than buying some other company's service. The difference between what the Federal Government does and what a private entity does is that you cannot choose a different Federal Government, but you can choose a different business to give your business to. The best argument I've heard against the FCC regulating the Internet is that the Internet does not fall within their jurisdiction. It was created to regulate a LIMITED number of broadcast channels on TV and radio. The Internet is limited only by the investment of private companies in expanding bandwith. If the FCC limits those private companies from charging for that increased bandwith, the investment in...

Professor Williams... Remember, the article said it would "improve the well-being of low wage WORKERS" and I'm sure it did. It didn't say anything about all of the people who would not get a chance to be a worker of any kind.
Interestingly, being governed by a philosophy to contextualize one's life rather than contextualizing your life based on emotion is a sign of maturity. Could it be that conservatives are happier because they're more mature?

The McConnell Tax-Rate Freeze

The implication that we can't afford to cut taxes is that your money belongs to the government. You're right, this is a tax increase, not a tax cut. Republicans need to control this narrative. The progressives in government believe that they can spend your money better than you can, and somehow they must credit themselves for your ability to earn it. There is a serious moral problem when retaining a tax level where it is "costs" the GOVERNMENT too much money. How about the fact that the government taking too much of the money people have earned costs them too much, and restricts their ability to spend and invest so that wealth is created instead of tossed into the black hole of government.
