Of course the President knew what was happening. In his usual fashion, he voted "present" and chose to do nothing. This type of incident involving a US Ambassador would have been brought to his attention. They were probably watching this in real time in the White House Situation Room. We do know he met with Panetta and Biden in the White House at 5 pm that day, at a time when the attack in Benghazi was underway. Is it really credible to believe that they did not discuss that situation? If you do believe that, I have a piece of land in Okeephenokee I would like to sell you.
On June 6 of this year, a bomb planted at the U.S. compound in Benghazi ripped a 12-foot-wide hole in the outer wall.

On June 11, the British ambassador's motorcade was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade, wounding a medic and doctor. The next day, the ambassador was gone and the British Benghazi post was closed.

At the same time, the Red Cross, after a second attack, shut down and fled the city.
