Lat time I looked, Nos Nevets, most of us don't have much choice with respect to our parents. Spouses, however, are a completely different situation. The fact that she chose a good man to marry and father her children speaks well for her maturity and judgment at the time. It sounds like she did well, and I am happy for her and their children that she found a man who knows how to love and support his family. Our country would be in much better shape today if we had more young couples like these two who marry, stay married, and bring up their children together with strong role models of what a good marriage looks like.

In January 1995, I made a list of 18 attributes that described the type of man I wanted to marry. The list included "wants children," "high family ties -- loves his mother," "secure in themselves" and "social."
