Roger Ebert turned his position as a film critic into a platform for his leftist views. There was a time when he couldn't write a movie review without taking a jab at Bush, healthcare, the war, etc. In later years I still used Ebert as a barometer: If he gave film a good review and it did not deal with politics, I'd check it out. If he gave it a bad review. I went to see "The Expendables". The theater was packed AND people applauded at the end. Same case for all of the movies he panned. At some point in his career he started to take himself way too seriously and forgot that the overwhelming majority want to be entertained - they don't want a political or moral lesson.
