do you think having one's own views supported by reason and logic is elitist?

then many of us are elitists. more such elitism is needed in this country and throughout the world.
pastorial Wrote: Nov 30, 2012 9:58 AM
G, yes, but i am not an elitist like you.
pastorial Wrote: Nov 30, 2012 9:59 AM
e, elitism is about power.
pastorial Wrote: Dec 01, 2012 10:06 AM
G, yes and a libertarian.

are you a res-publican elitist?
pastorial Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 12:57 PM
btw,

liberals believe in change

liberals believe in progress

liberals believe in re-form

liberals believe in a postivie attitude towards creation and life.
AKFred1 Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 1:04 PM
Excuse me. Creation and life, you forgot about abortion. Where does creation and life fit in there. Re-form, not to much reform when you take from someone and give to another. Progress would be moving forward, but liberals want to move backwards. Take away liberties, if one is removed it will not be long before others follow. Change, from a properous nation to an impoverished one. Yeah liberals are all about plenty of things as long as the light of day does not shine on it.
AKFred1 Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 1:12 PM
Just so you will understand moving backwards. I know of several liberals that own electric and hybrid cars. They believe they are better than anyone else because of their choice, no matter how bad it may be. Electric cars are good because they burn no fossil fuel to drive around, just plug in and go. When you ask them where does the electricity come from "it comes from the outlet". Never do they consider it comes from burning fossil fuel to generate it. Hybrid is better because it will run on the battery and not use any fossil fuel, but when it does it charges the battery. What happens when the battery goes bad and there is 400Lbs of toxic waste that has to be disposed of?
AKFred1 Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 1:18 PM
That is not their problem because they already did something for the enviroment. Progress, yeah good luck with that. I have rarely seen a liberal engineer, scientist(except global warming) or any other that moves ahead with technology. Liberals love their i-phones, i-pads and all forms of communication but give little thought to how bad each of these little devises are for the environment. You want to stop global warming then you need to progress/change/reform to the stone age.

A, what about abortion?

i am against it.

but i am for birth control.

why are some against birth control?
AKFred1 Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 1:26 PM
Not many are against birth control. I am against individuals that apply to a christian based school, knowing it is christian based. Then want the school to supply contraceptives, which is against their beliefs. Birth control should not be state funded. Individuals should practise their own birth control. Planned parenthood is not working, and it sure seems like sex education in schools is not either.
AKFred1 Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 1:33 PM
You say you are against abortion but for birth control. How about individuals on state aid with 4 or 5 children all by different fathers? They have never had a job and do nothing to improve their position. Should the state have forced sterilization on this individual at the 2 child. That is a form of birth control. Your name suggest something religious but yet you are liberal. How does that work?
eddie again Wrote: Nov 29, 2012 2:12 PM
who is it you are saying are against birth control?

i know of no one who says people should not control the number of children they procreate, except maybe for welfare moms and the men who impregnate them.
pastorial Wrote: Nov 30, 2012 9:56 AM
AKF, i am a libertarian. but i have both liberal and conservatrive tendencies.

i was a religionist for 50 some years before i became a person of faith.

when i was a welfare worker, i never found a client whose life style i envied.

the welfare worker does not make policy. the welfare worker follows policy.

if you disagree with a policy, then work through your state government.

do you really want to give the state the power to sterilize?

sterilzation is extreme birth contol!
pastorial Wrote: Nov 30, 2012 9:57 AM
e, the pro-life movement opposes any birth contol.

One bright spot of Barack Obama's re-election was knowing that unemployment rates were about to soar for the precise groups that voted for him -- young people, unskilled workers and single women with degrees in gender studies. But now the Democrats are sullying my silver lining by forcing Republicans to block an utterly pointless tax-raising scheme in order to blame the coming economic Armageddon on them.

Democrats are proposing to reinstate the Bush tax cuts for everyone ... except "the rich." (Why do only tax cuts come with an expiration date? Why not tax increases? Why not...
