Somehow--and I know about "judge not that ye be not judged"--the very thought of this man putting his blood-smeared hand on God's word gives me the creeps.

Not only do conservatives consider themselves right on EVERY point, but they also consider themselves to be God's personal messenger for morality and freedom. How do you have policy discussions with an opposition that thinks their positions are blessed by God, and if you don't acquiesce on tax rates and other issues then you will get your punishment in the after-life. There's no reasoning with a side that "knows" the "truth," and refuses to consider anything apart from their own preconceived notions.

Indeed, basing it on a "truth" that cannot be "known" in the first place.

President Obama will take the oath of office later this month “on a stack of Bibles,” the

Washington Post tells us. He will place his left hand on Bibles owned by Abraham Lincoln and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Well, that’s a relief. Interestingly, not included in the stack is the Koran, about which Mr. Obama spoke so glowingly in Egypt four years ago. (No Bibles openly displayed there.)
