I am not aware of where your statistics are coming from, and deny that they are valid. I am a veteran, I do not have "Delayed Stress Syndrome," and I have had a concealed carry permit since 1994. Veterans are no more likely, and actually less likely than the general population, to be criminals. Also, I have never, "been on the gravy train." I work in an emergency department, and I am sure I have provided an essential service (besides protecting you a$$ and your freedom) since 1983.
The ruling should be considered as similar to ruling by John Marshall, when he was chief justice of the early Supreme Court. The Marbury v. Madison ruling was not what President Jefferson or Congress expected, but it established that the court would set precedent AND determine constitutionality of legal questions in a way to ensure that the Supreme Court was a coequal branch of government, and not a tool of either the federalists or the republicans of that era.
