Why is this being reported as though the treaty does not require senate ratification? Since when can the executive promulate an international treaty without senate ratification? What is going on in the senate that makes these reports come across as though the senate will ratify? I do NOT see that happening. Unless I am missing some huge elephant in the room about the process, I can only see a huge dose of scare mongering going on by articles such as this. The NRA and all the sister oeganizations would have senate heads on pikes if this passed that chamber. I do doubt this is going anywhere.

Right now the United Nations is meeting and negotiating in New York City. One of the treaties up for consideration and finalization is the Arms Trade Treaty, better known as the “Small Arms Treaty.” We’ve heard anti-Second Amendment groups like the Brady Campaign scream about how President Obama has done nothing to further domestic gun control, but their yelling is only a distraction from what the corrupt and dirty UN has been up to.
