University Apologizes for Stomping Jesus

No, they apologized AFTER THE MEDIA FIRESTORM caused by singling out a religion and mindlessly attacking it. Anyone representing ANY RELIGION should leave this college and immediately demand a full refund for misrepresentation of standards. I don't care if you're Christian, Atheist, Buddhist, Mormon, Hindu--it doesn't matter. IF YOU SUPPORT FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND OPPOSE TAKING TAX DOLLARS TO ATTACK A RELIGION WITHOUT WARNING THE CUSTOMERS BEFORE THEIR PURCHASE, THEN YOU SHOULD IMMEDIATELY DEMAND A REFUND.

One professor misuses a textbook and the religious are supposed to punish the entire school? Not sure Jesus would support the "you offended me so I mus destroy you" approach. but then again, Christians have never been known to actually follow their own religion.

You liberal troll, how about writing Mohammed on a piece of paper and stomping on it? Note that it was not ANY religion but the Christian faith that was being disrespected.

Let's not forget that Ryan Rotela was suspended by the school for expressing his outrage by refusing the assignment and complaining about it. They didn't mention that the professor has been reprimanded or Mr. Rotelaela been reinstated. The only thing that is mentioned is that the school apologized.

Sadly, I must disagree. The school conditionally apologized, "for any offense this has caused," not for the lesson, the professor, or their choice of courses.

Not an unexpected response from a liberal.

But that is the sorry excuse for apology that is accepted these days. In FL a youth who beat a homeless man to death offered the following for an apology - and the judge accepted it: "If I had known this would the result (his prison sentence), I would not have done this."...really, getting caught and punished was the crime? So, no one ever questions these sorry excuses for apologies.

Yes, this is one of those "non-apology apologies" where no responsibiity is taken and no consequences expressed.

Call and write lmetcalf@fau.edu and dpoole3@fau.edu and keep up the pressure.

Kimberly,
Since you professed to be Catholic yesterday, perhaps you know a lot more about those Christians that don't follow their own religion, but to lump all Christians into your own group is sterotyping.

Florida Atlantic University has issued an apology for a classroom assignment that involving students writing the name “Jesus” on a sheet of paper and then stomping on the paper. The university also said the lesson will never again be used.

“We sincerely apologize for any offense this has caused,” the university said in a prepared statement. “Florida Atlantic University respects all religions and welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.”

The university initially defended the Christ-bashing lesson which is included textbook titled, “Intercultural Communication: A Contextual Approach, 5th Edition.”
