As a former Dem who hates their party, I must disagree. They would LOVE for us to try that. Yes, they control the Big 3--media, academia, entertainment industries--but we needn't make things easy for them by not even throwing down the challenge. Who cares about 4 more months when that puts it just past their next deadline for a budget? Even the Dems know Boehner has played this one perfectly (which makes me wonder if it was his idea), and they're giving in and promising a budget. THAT'S PERFECT. I love your spirit of limiting the damage. But we MUST move the needle of public opinion, or all we'll do is set up the next slaughter that removes once and for all any leverage we'll ever see. Boehner's right....this time.

Despite talking for months about using the debt ceiling as leverage to get Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass a budget, spending cuts and entitlement reform, House Republicans are expected to vote on a temporary debt ceiling increase tomorrow.

House leaders on Monday unveiled legislation to permit the government to continue borrowing money through May 18 in order to stave off a first-ever default on U.S. obligations. It is slated for a vote on Wednesday.
