So, as a liberal and an atheist, I'd like to know. If the Christian Right were to get what they want in the way of legislation, how would my life change? How would the lives of my friends change? My friends include gay couples with children and people involved in occult faiths like Wicca. My friends include people who work for organizations like Planned Parenthood. My friends include writers, filmmakers, artists, teachers. Would my gay friends lives be unchanged? Would they be allowed to live, to teach, to raise their own children in peace? Would my friends in the creative arts still be able to write and publish, make films, paint, without being told what they can or can't write, film, paint? As an atheist, would my life be unaffected?

How about if the brutally oppressive Shah of Iran had never been put in place by the US to begin with?

And Christianity has never declared war on "unbelievers?" Would you like a little primer on Christianity's history of killing in the name of Christ?

The best way to end up “on the wrong side of history” is to base your moral decisions on what the majority at a given time believe. Maybe Scott Wheeler is aware of a case where questioning the loyalty of a given ethnic or religious group, spreading wild, conspiracy theories about them, and fanning, the flames of paranoia until individuals who weren’t even members of that given group were accused of being secret members, falls on the right side of history. I’d be very interested in learning what it was.
