5 Reasons America Is In Decline

I basically agree with all of Mr Hawkins 5 points. However, the last sentence, "future generations will grow up in a place where their grandparents will have to tell them what it was like when America was a great nation'" is far to rosy. The crisis is now and our children (I'm 60) will not grow older in the same America as we Boomers. The Boomers have done nothing to reverse these trends (they have only gotten worse) and I don't see any real hope for our children to stop the slide. I see more of a survivalist-oriented society as people increasingly reject a dysfunctional gov't. We will reach bottom and the country will change irrevocably before things MAY get better.

Outsider, I'm a generation ahead of you and although I have often been disappointed over the past fifty plus years, I see some light at the end of the tunnel. In spite of the fact that our grandchildren are being mis-educated from pre-school through university, they are seeing what's happening around them and I believe they will be the engine of change to get our Nation back on track. They do not like what they see and are just activist enough to change the political scene for the better. I'm in hopes they end the career politican process and I believe that is already being started. They are groomed to believe they can do anything they put their minds to and that may challenge them to be much more responsible and productive.

There's a reason gun sales are through the roof, gold advertisements are everywhere, products like survival seeds have started to creep into the edges of our consciousness, and Doomsday Preppers now runs on National Geographic. It's the same reason people have started asking about ways to hedge their money against inflation and which countries they can flee to if America falls apart. A decade ago, the idea that America could economically collapse because of a default on its debt seemed ludicrous, but we now know it's entirely possible that the country could turn into Greece within...
