A pregnant woman who merely STATED she firmly intended to lay her new born on a hot stove would probably find the child taken away immediately after birth. Apparently, you feel that babies should routinely be sentenced to death so that moms need not experience any distress or discomfort or dislocations in their lives. Babies would probably dispute that, if they could talk.
Abraham Lincoln faced a similar problem in 1854 when he spoke of the “covert zeal” of President Franklin Pierce and Sen. Steven A. Douglas for the spread of slavery. These leading Democrats never said they were in favor of slavery. They simply viewed the right of whites to choose slavery for blacks as a “sacred principle of self government.”Lincoln abhorred this subterfuge.
