James & Origanalist... what I posted regarding the need for regulations is absolutely correct. Without regulations electricians would wire your home with under rated and undersized wiring... with insulation too thin... to make more profit while you risk a fatal fire. They indeed would and when such a preventable catastrophe eventually occurred... blame the producer of the wire or insulation.

An unregulated economy would indeed be a very dangerous one as did the owners of now deceased ets that bought unregulated pet food sold through WalMart but manufatured in China. Is that what you want under the rubric of freedom, 'rights', pursuit of happiness... all done with boots up the arss (it's the American way according to Hannity)...

Think about it before blathering nonsense. Some regulations may seem excessive. However, when carefully analyzed... most are lifesavers without which many an additional cemetery would be filled with victims... possibly YOU.

Read my post. Electrical wiring standards have zero comparison to large EPA regulations which come from a (READ) Unconstitutional agency.

James... Congress has the right and duty to form Departments and Agencies. Such is not precluded by the US Constitution and does not need to be stated for such to be legal.

Personally, I am glad that the EPA exists. For you to selct this Agency and make some comparison to electrical wiring standards makes no sense... None. EPA serves a useful purpose and could accomplish its mission more readily and efficiently if government employees were not unionized. Put some fear in their softened nutts and they will work harder rather than roam halls all day looking for new-booty.

And those departments have gone way beyond their original mandates. The constitution never mandated that agencies be formed that have the power of the congress. The reason I use that as an example is in response to you post

James... a regulation is a regulation is a regulation... whether federal,state or mandated locally. The purpose of Courts is to determine whether agencies overstep their mandated bounds. Perhaps some do.. no doubt. That, however, is for Courts to decide... not we the people.

The Constitution is interpretable. Such is why many rulings are handed down 5-4 from SCOITUS. Depeartments and Agencies do indeed have powers relegated to them that are only limited by the will of Congress while such is not explicity stated within the Constitution. Ifalivetoday and with knowledge of the past two centuries the foundersof this nation and it's writers of it's Constitution would word it quite differently... thus foreclosing many things while explicitly...

Answer -- that is utter nonsense. If they used poor wiring and the house they wired started catching on fire, they would not get any more customers. Nor could the manufacturers of the substandard wiring. That is why the companies will not make substandard wiring in the first place and why electricians would not instal it if they did. In capitalist systems, there is a HUGE incentive to have a good reputation.

The market takes care of people much better than bureaucrats.

Answer -- you are absolutely wrong about the Congress having the right or duty to form agencies. The Constitution gives Congress a very few powers and is very specific about what those powers are. Congress does not have the authority to go beyond those powers.

You really SHOULD try to learn something before you spout off your mouth. As you are so fond of saying, "Go and do some homework!"

All I can say to you is "We the people of the United States......Summarized We are the government and it work for us.

Corbett... what you posted would seem to make sense if unscrupulous types did not exist... and they do... and in great number... and they could care less... change names... change company names... kove elsewhere and do it again.

And... you bet they would. Some do so now of course however far more would do so if standards and regulations did not exist. That is a house you do not want to live in and might not for long is an unscrupulous and unlicensed 'electrician' wired it. That is why inspection by licensed inspectors is a requirement... thank God.

Corbett... please read the US Consitution in its entirety to determine why you are so errant. Then... read it a few more times... so it thoroughly sinks in. Congress is indeed well within legal authority based upon the Constitution to form Departments and Agencies... an infinite number of them if it wanted. This is not precluded by the Constitution nor rellegated among those powers granted states.

James.. you, me and everyone else is not the government. We do work for and within it but 'government' in existing by and for the people does not comprise the people. That is an important distinction you need to realize.

I do my own wiring to Standard. Why, because I don't wont to burn my house down. Does that make my house not to Standard. No it does not because I insured it met the Industrial standards for safety. If it burned down I would only have my self to blame. Any damaged that I caused my neighbors I would be held responsible for. I do the same in my rental properties.

Be glad regulations exist. Some may seen unnecessary or excessive yet each in its own way benefits you and in some cases even saves your life.
