Please take a good look at Ayn Rand's life before jumping onto her bandwagon. You might not like where it takes you.

Why don't YOU take us there and show us Ayn Rand's life? Brief summation acceptable. Then tell us how her book Atlas Shrugged" somehow invalidates Katies opinion.

OK.
Ayn Rand demanded total submission in her followers.
They could not be allowed to decide how to spend their own time; the only rational thing for them to do was listen to Randian lectures every evening.
Like others who seek to deconstruct faith in God, Ayn Rand desired that faith to be placed in her.
There is no need to attempt to create an unholy alliance between Ayn Rand's philosophy and the claims of Jesus.
He claimed to be the way, the truth, and the life - just follow Him.

Christ IS Lord. No quarrel there.

BUT-we still have to live IN this world even as we are not 'of' it. Capitalism is not at odds with the Biblical teachings of self-sufficiency, integrity and voluntary charity. To be self-sufficient, honest, and charitable IS to serve the greater society, as such qualities enhance others' lives as well as our own.

Full disclosure-I am not very familiar with Rand though I am aware she was not a believer. Still working through Atlas Shrugged for the first time. And at my advanced age! ;)

Your statement, "Christ is Lord", is the best possible foundation for living in the world.
Not a rule book, but the Lord of the Universe living in us.

But wait, O'Pinyon, doesn't God demand worship and submission? And that others place their faith in him? Sauce for the goose...
Step aside, Justin Timberlake. Let’s bring selfish back, y’all!

Last week, I wrote that if you are a Christian, you must embrace Ayn Rand’s economic philosophy (capitalism). Today, I will explore this further.

To recap, philosophers who came before Christ (think Aristotle), philosophers who rejected Christ (think Rand) and philosophers who accepted Christ (think Thomas Aquinas) concur that human laws must stem from natural law, which stems from reason. Said differently, all rational thinkers embrace natural law. Capitalism is the most rational political system and therefore the best political expression of natural law, so rational Christians...
