An Open Letter to my Black Evangelical Friends

If all of our Presidents had been black, I wonder if 5% of white people could be found to oppose an anti-Christ white candidate. How many of us will truly follow Christ when push comes to shove? In Christ...there is no longer black or white.

There is black and white and we must deal with that.

The Bible says this about the Body of Christ: "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all ONE in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28

If you belong to Christ, it doesn't matter WHAT 'racial group' or 'ethnic group' you belong to... you are my brother or sister in Christ. However, IF you choose to 'separate' yourself, and identify yourself by your RACE, rather than your relationship with Christ, than I certainly question if you understand what 'being in Christ' is all about; and, indeed, if you are even a Christian! Especially, if you identify with others who are of the same race as you who have identified themselves, by word and deed, as NOT Christian!

When I am filling out paper work for a loan there is no Body of Christ option. On my birth certificate there was no Body of Christ option. From your white privilege you can make that comment. I am identified by race and so are you.

'my white privilige'?????? I was born out of wedlock, and my mother was married 4x by the time I was 18. I lived in 11 different homes by the time I dropped out of school and joined the Marine Corps at age 17. I went on to graduate from college on the GI Bill (3.19 GPA), and went on to a career with the government. I am retired now, and own my own home and car, and live comfortably. My RACE (white) had NOTHING to do with the good things that have come to my life. The 'turn-around' in my life started at age 28 when I confessed Christ and received Him as My Savior. I owe everything in my life to Him. RevG, IF you actually are a Christian, you need to 'get over yourself' and be thankful and find out WHO you are IN HIM! respectfully...

You deal with it through Jesus Christ, there IS no other answer. Otherwise you are serving a different jesus.

Deal with it how? The HOW is the debate. I was the only white person on a black cleaning crew. These men knew I respected them. As we talked about politics, I found that there was a clear association Liberal Policies = Supporting Blacks. This was "true" even as those policies failed those people miserably. I lost my first apartment because we had children from our church in our home for Christmas. My racist land lord kicked us out 2 days before Christmas. I am a conservative because I believe in the dignity of people and the great potential of ALL of them.

Andy we share similar paths without the retirement piece and I will tell you this, you do have white privilege. If you are white person in America you have privilege. Please study the concept.

RevG....turn your eyes upon Jesus, and look full in His wonderful face; and the things of this world will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace..get your eyes off yourself, and the 'stumbling block' Satan has erected in your life over this issue..which now fills your whole horizon and will determine your destiny, if you allow it, and focus on HIM.... regards..

I am not writing this letter to accuse but rather to advance understanding. And even though I am white, I am not writing as an outsider but as a fellow evangelical, part of the same spiritual family. May I pose some candid questions?

Are you guilty, on any level, of blind allegiance to the Democratic party? And, on Election Day, did any of you compromise your convictions out of racial solidarity?

I have been very open in my criticism of white evangelicals, pointing out how we often put our trust in the Republican party and how we look to the latest...
