I'd also favor that the cash built up be allowed as an "emergency fund" for people who lose their jobs - e.g. replace unemployment comp. with private cash...

I'd favor _immediately_ giving 18 year olds and under total privatization of their SS - tunr them into 401Ks. Since they're earning the least amount of cash, this would be the lowest impact on the current SS system. Once the effects of the 18 and unders have been built into the system, start moving up the age ladder.

Well, if Romney's not elected, then at some point the Democrats will have to eat crow and stop the handouts. Since they're responsible for most of the handouts (exceptions noted by Pat above) it seems only fitting that they should be the ones who take those handouts away.

Vicky - one thing (perhaps the biggest influence) to consider is the compensation of Chinese vs. American workers/engineers/scientists in their respective MIC's.

Corbett's not a Democrat. Didn't you have a handle that said something to the effect that you'd be a Democrat if you were paid enough to run as one?

No - about 0.1 cent, based on the fact that in 1900, a $20 gold piece (1 troy ounce) was worth $20, and now, that same amount of gold is worth > 50 times as much.
Personally,I'd like to see the White House and Congress more centrallhy located, as DC was supposed to be more or less centrally located when the Nation started. I figure somewhere near our Southern border. I suspect if this happened, there would be no more arguments about fences...

Some companies are finding that moving the "intelligence" offshore doesn't work so well - ends up costing more. Case in point is moving s/w development offshore.

GDL - here's an interesting article for you: http://barelyablog.com/?p=51908 Basically, businesses must appease the Fed, State and local govt's to keep them off their backs. Sure this employs people here, but this is more of the broken glass leads to a better economy problem than an actual productivity gain.
With left wing lies about the deficit...
