Evidence keeps accumulating to support the claims of certain commentators who assert that our President's agenda is intended to damage the U.S. rather than to govern it.

Angrier and angrier are the liberals.

Dennis Prager has often observed that conservatives seem to have more fun than liberals and ARE more fun than liberals.

Al Franken is a fine case in point: he can be nasty, he can be sarcastic, he can be silly. But the warm humor of a Cosby, a Newhart, or a Mary Tyler Moore is completely beyond his capacity.

Have you read Dr. Sowell's book A Conflict of Visions? I've been a voluminous reader for the past 60 years, but this one, which I read only last year, clarified my whole view of political, economic, and social discussion to a degree that continues to astonish me.

It is carefully and thoroughly nonpartisan, yet it is by implication the most devastating critique of liberalism, starting with William Godwin, that I have seen.

From the troll you are addressing, ALWAYS expect c. Anything else, even if completely idiotic, is a bonus.

is the acronym for the almost unimaginably evil National Institute for Coordinated Experiments in C.S. Lewis's novel That Hideous Strength.

Here corrupted scientists Frost and Wither and Filostrato plot the end of humanity and in fact of all biological life on earth.

One can't help but wonder at the choice of a name--even the first two words are the same!

Government health
Is how, by stealth

They'll take away
Lots of your pay

And make you wait
Till it's too late

For any care;
You can despair

Of any help.
A mangy whelp

Will see a vet
Before they set

A far-off date
to operate,

However severe
The pain; it's mere

Numbers to those
Who will dispose

Of your case or you
While looking through

The lens of expedience.
Here your obedience

Will be required
Lest you be mired

In still more red tape.
You're just an ape

That happens to talk.
There's no use to balk

When everyone knows
ACORN will impose

Its will for your care.
Its decisions are...

Name calling, demeaning, ridiculing and exhibiting no understanding at all is a great way to avoid the actual argument of an article.

It's also a great way to be scrolled past by those who see your name and know that nothing of interest or value will be contained in anything you post.

A song for the Current Occupant
(sung to the tune of Oh, Susannah)

I come from Old Chicago, Marx and Engels in my head,
I come to shake up Congess, put the country in the red.

Oh, poor Nation,
You have elected me
To cap and tax and take an ax
To your prosper-i-ty!

My daddy was a communist as everybody knows;
I'll follow in his footsteps, no matter how it shows.

Oh, poor Nation,
You have elected me
To cap and tax and take an ax
To your prosper-i-ty!

I won't give up till everyone has kowtowed to my scheme
Of squeezing every company until I hear it scream.

Oh, poor Nation,
You have elected me
To cap and tax and take ax
To your prosper-i-ty!

I'll either...

No joke. I stand by the challenge. How many conservatives here would refuse to vote for two genuinely conservative African-American (or Hispanic or Filipino or any other minority) women if their educational and leadership qualifications were in order, merely because of race?

My guess is a very small minority.

Racism in the U.S. has changed significantly in recent years. Just as the KKK has gone from a significant force in American political life to a mere joke, so racism itself has gone from a largely unexamined assumption to a universally recognized problem, regardless of the race of the person harboring it.

Trying to read between the lines of many, many posts on TH, with a background in British Literature, theology, biology, philosophy, and hermeneutics, I will stick my neck out and venture the opinion that here on TH when someone protests, "It isn't politics, it's RACISM"--it's USUALLY politics, DESPITE racist language used by some posters who should know better.

The big problem most people here have with the Current Occupant is not that he's black, but that he's further to the left than anyone who has ever held the office. If Eugene V. Debs and Norman Thomas were still around, even they wouldn't be as far left as the man who now occupies the White House, and they both were willing to call themselves Socialists.

I will...
