-- "End the corruption. Crush the drug cartels. Make Mexico a peaceful and safe society. -- Mr. Reagan, you - that is, YOU AMERICANS - could not handle alcohol prohibition despite being the most powerful country in the world during the Roaring 20's and you expect those two things to go together (i.e. a WAR against drug cartels AND a peaceful nation)? Are you on drugs yourself? Seems like so... As for the economy being freer, it is certainly MORE free than yours. At least, Mexicans can ignore the government with (almost) impunity, while you suffer from the most bloathed bureaucracy ever seen since the Soviet Union. Who is more free? Again, don't throw stones inside a glass house.

Prohibition isn't a good analogy. The US had been in a world war and the Great Depression. Check The Grapes of Wrath, for Pete' sake. Okies were the first migrant peons.

And we are a population of alcohol lovers; nothing so awful.

Mexico definitely offers opportunity for everybody (their best-kept secret). But peons watch Dynasty reruns on their teles, and see things they don't have at home. They are feverish for wages in dolares; so they make a mad dash north.

Who's going to blame them; other than Tancredo and Pat Buchanan? We have to wise up! Mexicans are human beings!

If the freedom that you celebrate is the freedom to defy your governmentwith impuniyt then, well, I think that is a sub-optimal situation at best. One would hope for a better, more just, more freedom-respecting Government

And I agree with everything you've said about glass houses. We could do ten times more for the cause of law & order and against the drug cartels than we've accomplished so far simply by legalizing the use of Marijuana and creating alegal guestworker program. The two most profitable cartel monopolies would thus instantly vanish.

Socialist, corrupt, inept government. It is easy peasy to throw stones at Mexico.
It is self evident, people do not flee free and prosperous nations. You must be the one on drugs.

We are more prosperous; less free. We live in a police state. For God's sake.

This too shall pass. We're on the tobbogan to ruin already!

America has almost 12 million illegal immigrants.

Many of them came here on visas and never left.

But about 60 percent of them walked in from just one country -- Mexico.

Though the stalled Obama Economy has caused about 900,000 to go home since 2007, there are still about 6 million Mexicans living in the United States who've sneaked across our borders.

Everyone from Marco Rubio to John McCain and our golfer in chief are trying to figure out how to deal with the illegal immigrants we have already and prevent future waves of Mexican migrants.

But no...
