But I bet you keep buying things Made in China don't you. Maybe if we got rid of Unions and lower the rate of taxes Corporations and small businesses pay we could keep jobs in the USA. But the Occupy Wall Street types want to keep killing the Goose that laid the Golden Egg. Free Market Capitalism is what makes jobs possible!

No it's called Conscientious Objection, and if we would all practice it, we could bring the IRS to a screeching halt and bring about real tax reform, like a Flat Tax or something similar. They can't put us all in jail.

So I guess you voted for Barry Sotero. How's that working out for you? Oh that's right, this mess we're in is all Bush's fault. Finish your Kool-Aid and do some real research for a change.

Who is John Locke?

Mr. Phillips is on target. My son knows who Locke is but only because I pulled him out of public school in the 7th grade and home-schooled him. No easy task for a working dad, but it was worth the time and effort. Now I'm the proud father of a 22 year-old who is articulate, knows how to think through a problem and understands not only what he believes, but why he believes it. One of the treasures in my home is the Britannica Great Books of the Western World Series. In it are the works of Locke, Hume, Adam Smith, and The Federalist Papers to name just a few of the seminal works that have shaped the nation and the world in which we live and which will be lost to the barbarity of Stateism if we don't recapture our public education...

My Apology to the DAMNED

Dr. Adams, another very well written and enjoyable article. I'm a glutton for punishment (a 57 year old grad student) and for me the greatest source of punishment is sitting in class with some of my 20Something classmates. Products of a public education many of them can't think, but simply regurgitate the latest relativism of the day, usually prefaced with, "Well it depends...." Thank you for your honesty and wit. I always find grist for the mill in your columns.

A Free Press Is an Ugly Press

Old Grad Student Wrote: Sep 09, 2009 6:03 AM
It's tough being so stupid that I have to have someone like David Harsanyi explain the job of a Free Press to me. A Free Press is an Ugly Press...really? Geez, David you could have fooled me. But, I only have a BS, MDiv, MSHS and I'm working on another MS, so I must be too ignorant to get it!

But enough sarcasm and to the point...David it's not that it's ugly, it's that it is selectively ugly. It's ugly when it suits the purposes of the "Free" Presses handlers. Otherwise, it's all about American Idol, Michael Jackson, Octuplets, Angelina & Brad...until we need something to distract the mob, or the masses, or the yokels or what ever the derisive term for We the People is today.

The so-called Free Press is just part of the...
