We, the voting public, the owners of this country, have allowed politicans of both stripes over the years expand the scope of Federal Government and the related programs to the point we are today. The ship of state cannot be turned 180 degs overnight, the resulting chaos would sink us as a nation. We can look back to the mid 60s and all the programs put into place (by both parties) that were done so with a proper funding plan. The only glimpce of sanity (in my opinion) we have seen over that time is the Reagan era SS reform. We, in many respects, are as culpable as Congress and the Presidents.
