An Old Saying, Which I do not always agree with- but seems apropos now..."Rich Men make Wars and Fools Fight them". The strategic interests of the US are hardly represented by actions in Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya, while Corporate interests are . The greater threat to American Liberty, for which many heroically died, is strategic- and lies in Washington DC. The loss of freedom and the looming potential for dismal poverty are far more serious than overseas concerns. Foreign Policy is in a shambles and American leverage is poorly and inappropriately applied.

Obama, has a penchant for appointing the poorly qualified. Petraeus, is more qualified to be SecDef not CIA.. Panetta is qualified for nothing dealing with military or intelligence. Poor choices are anti-nation on their face : no surprise from an anti-American.

If Trump runs as an independent , Obama is re-elected. Watch for it.

This will end badly. Possibilities: A. Gadhafi prevails..retribution to rebels and a changed attitude towards Us. B. Rebels prevail..high historical probability there will be no democracy and mullah rule will be as or more oppressive than Gadhafi. C. "Transition Forces" will enter Libya and quagmire ala Afghanistan and Iraq. Cultural elements are arrogantly overlooked as western templates are attempted to be superimposed. Doomed to failure.

Elizabeth: Understand and concur. However, my understanding is that Libya provides 2% of our oil. Turmoil...Interesting word.. in Saudi Arabia/ Bahrain and Venezuela are not cause for intervention ? Would venture to say we use 2% less oil now due to prices, so Libya is a mute point..I think you are absolutely correct in that there is no US energy policy due the failure of liberal politicians of whom, Obama is foremost. Oil, gas and yes even, nuclear as well as other sources..must be a domestic priority.....Obama, has no plan..other than to obstruct our needs...He has no financial plan, no border plan, tax reform plan, small business plan, Federal Reserve curtailment plan, immigration plan, government down-sizing plan...actually,...

What is Libya's strategic threat to the United States ? Did Libya invade another country- eg. "Act of Aggression" ? What revolution in the Middle East resulted in a Democracy ( A concept foreign to Islam) . ? What planes and ships does the UN have to provide a no fly zone ?... eg. the US is de facto the UN's enforcement arm. Who pays the bill? Whose responsibility was it to go against Gadhafi and were they prepared for the consequences..without bailout ? The US is NOT the world's Policeman !!

Politics will solve nothing, because politics are the wrong cure for a sick patient. A missed Diagnosis.. and as such even politics have become infected. The Problem: A Sick society, devoid of morality, civility and citizenship. Rather than promoting excellence, there exists a fulminating,pustulent mediocrity of selfish self centeredness, rudeness and resentment. The cure isn't money thrown at a dying patient. It's Attitude change in the home, classroom, workplace, community, town,city,county,state,region and nation...promoted in all media,meetings and congresses.
