I did some contract work an an Exxon refinery. The Exxon employees used to laugh at Chavez when he would threaten to stop selling oil to the US (as if he could). They laughed because there are only a handful of refineries that can handle Venezuela's sour (high sulfur) crude; most of them are in the US.
