Buck O Sorry but the highest Admiral rating I know is that of a former professor (not here) that was a four star. I don't believe the five star Admiral rank is currently issued. As I recall the last was during WW2.. with none since. I do know that some fleet commanders who are of Admiral rank leisurely refer to themselves at being a "fleet Admiral". This is somewhat misplaced and does not imply that they are five star of rank.

You are correct. The five-star rank is a wartime rank only. Fleet Admiral (5-star) Chester Nimitz was CINCPAC in WW II. Bob Willard, my Naval Academy classmate, recently retired as CINCPAC - with four stars.
