The above is why this nation, today, has a 16.7 Trillion dollar National Debt that was near ZERO in 1965. It was not created due to wars and the Regan military buildup (lasted six years and collectively cost 180 Billion dollars resulting since then in a 5 Trillion dollars peace dividend since the collapse of the USSR). Democrats squandered the 5 Trillion dollars 'peace dividend' since 1989 via the ever amping of social programs which includes welfare and food stamps along with a plethora of others that had morphed from Great Society Programs imposed since 1965. The Reagan peace dividend... 5 Trillion dollars since 1989.. was not instead used to pay down the National Debt.
