Largely, what makes such talent possible is the amount and ratio of red and white muscle. This is purely genetic and can not be compensated for by "hard work". Another component is muscle and tendon length combines with 'insertion point' attachment to bones of correct size, proportion and body symmetry. These are the things that among others enable good athletes to become great. It is what enabled Michael Jordan to 'float' through the air when charging a basket. BTW.. he can no longer do that so much as to one third extent... even if he practiced daily for hours,days, weeks and months.

Most people always envy athletes for their fame and money, but really they should envy their work ethic. Now I know they have it great, they play a game for a living and make millions of dollars, but it takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get there. Unlike many in society, they have to to earn their success based on their merits, they weren’t given anything.
