One can like cars but not cars that lack seatbelts and can cause death to innocent drivers. One can like food but not food that's uncooked, raw and can get one sick and potentially kill. One can like books but detest books that communicate disgusting themes and morals. The Catholic Church can be for healthcare for all but oppose any healthcare reform that's immoral (kills babies) and unethical (forces religious institutions to violate their conscience). If you feel the bishops have gone wrong about this; then fine. Some bishops have been too friendly with politicians and not vociferous enough about Church teaching. The distinction is clear though. The Church will be fine with healthcare that's moral, ethical, and narrow in scope (I hope).

While I agree with your conclusion, your first three points are not well thought out. First, I love cars that don't have seat belts and I would love to own them. That would include almost any car made in the US before 1965, and I loved my 64 Olds. Cars without without seat belts do not kill innocent drivers. Drivers mistakes do that. Fro the record I always use seatbelts, I had them installedon a car that didn't have them, and I care about their use, but the lack of seatbelts in a car does not cause death to innocent drivers.

Second, Nearly everyone enjoys uncooked food, and many people enjoy nearly raw meats or raw meats. Sushi comes to mind first, along with carrots, celery, tomatoes, onions, potatoes(I know, I'm one of the few who likes them raw), and many other foods. Cooking kills bacteria, but so does the human immune system, and our ancestors ate everything raw. If you kill a healthy animal and eat it immediately, there is little if any chance of disease. However, there are animals that should never be eaten raw like pig, monkey, bear, and a few others that carry diseases humans can get from eating the unspoiled meat

Maybe if the government takes it over, the Church ca have its cake and eat it too. They get their "social justice" without having to deal with the uncomfortable subject of abortion on demand, under the doctrine of "Render unto Rome what is due Rome"
BTW, I am Catholic, but I am suspicious of politicians of any stripe, even within the Church...

I think our politicians could use a few stripes...

Despite the tribulations the American Catholic Church has been suffering with the Obama administration, the Vatican continues to pursue government-enforced universal healthcare. Its ambassador to the United Nations recently issued a statement encouraging all member nations to move toward a system of universal healthcare, implemented by government.

The Vatican said the Catholic Church is "committed to universal healthcare coverage" in a release Thursday that described a speech by one of its leaders before the World Health Assembly.

Archbishop Zygmunt Zimoski told the meeting in Geneva on Wednesday that the Vatican supports Resolution WHA64.9, a measure that...
