What if God zapped an "old" earth into existence, say, yesterday? How would you know the difference? All he has to do is give you and me consistent memories of our childhoods, world history, dig out a grand canyon that looks ancient, etc.. So it would be a 4.5 billion year old earth, scientifically. How could anyone tell?

Some say that can't be because that would be deceptive of God.
For the yesterday, scenario they'd be right.
But if he did it several thousand years ago, there's no deception, because he told us what he did.

My point is that there is absolutely, categorically no conflict between saying the earth is 4.5 billion years old and that God created it recently in 6 24 hour days.
