"Retropspective Prediction" All fun aside, despite the tortured English, the term does have a meaning. It means you have a theory or hypothesis and some existing data that you can apply it to rather than go design a new experiment or wait for the future to unfold. Then you look at that historical data to see if your theory accurately predicted the correlations (& maybe even, cause&effect) or not.

A new paper that recently replaced the old paper that settled the science of global warming is now out - and not a moment too soon, either.

Because the new paper essentially says: “Um, guys? Never mind.” :/).
