Republicans Can’t Duck Abortion Issue

Abortion needs to be defined. Is preventing an egg in an ovary from being fertilized abortion because this prevention aborts a potential human life? Is abortion of a fertilized egg a day, a week, a month after fertilization the same as infanticide? If the responsibility and burden of conception, pregnancy, delivery of a baby with pain and the chance of death that is required of a woman were required of a man would men require the right to choose abortion? Who decides that the determining factor in the process of procreating human life is the MALE sperm?
As a former Officer-in-Charge in the former Immigration & Naturalization Service I used to start my talks with "You cannot immigrate to the United States.....pause.....unless you have a relative here or a skill we need." This eliminates 99.99% of the 7.3 billion people on earth who do not meet the preferences of having a skill we need or an immediate relative, i.e. father, mother, sister, brother, spouse who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. The "non-preference" alien who seeks to immigrate to the U.S. is one of less than 1 million lawfully admitted each year. An alternative for the non-preferencea alien is to enter illegally by running across the border. This is theft on a grand scale. Value? $1,000, $10,000, $100,000, more

Illegal Immigrants, Not So Illegal

Millions of aliens around the world would like to have the "dream that is American to the core." Forget trying to immigrate legally. Smuggle a baby or a young child into the U.S. or have an illegal alien woman have a baby in the U.S. and thereby steal something of enormous value, namely presence in the U.S. Illegal pays off. Not a good policy.

Round One in the Immigration Debate

What is the value of what an illegal alien has stolen by entering and remaining in the United states illegally? $100, $1,000, $10,000, $50,000, $100,000, more? If a person robs a bank of $50,000 and gives the money to his child five or ten years later is this acceptable as a violation of law for which the bank robber is given amnesty? Suppose the bank robber commits no other crime, works hard, pays his taxes, cares for his family. Is this basis for allowing the bank robber to get away with the crime of bank robbery? Can his child keep the stolen money? Violation of immigration law should be taken as seriously as robbing a bank. I was a Special Agent in New York City and retired as an Officer-in-Charge with the USINS, Dept. of Justice.

Voting in a most valuable treasure of United States citizenship. Legal "Lawful Permanent Residents" (Green Card, I-151 holder immigrants) are not eligible to vote until they become United States citizens. "Should Illegal Immigrants Be Allowed to Vote"? Duh, I don't think so!
The word "illegal" is in the news these days. John Ransom mentions that Apple has done nothing illegal in acquiring millions of dollars. Contrast this with the "illegal" alien who has illegally acquired (stolen) presence in the United States worth $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, $50,000, $100,000? Theft of this magnitude should not be tolerated.
