Just like the Liberals changed their name to "Progressives" Conservatives should find a name that would appeal to a larger audience. Most people are desperate to be cool, hip and relevant and "Conservative" evokes the image of Grant Wood's "American Gothic".

If The Supreme Court becomes entirely left-leaning it will be impossible to start nudging the pendulum back to (at least) the center.
It's hard to beat the Democratic Party when libertarians and uncompromising Republicans refuse to form coalitions and waste their time attacking those available to help beat the Democrats.
Obviously writers and radio show hosts need to be snarky and blood-pressure-raising to keep their audience, but normal people don't need to lower themselves to name calling. This sounds like a good election to push the most conservative candidate, but there are other places that need Republican support for more liberal Republican candidates. Coalitions will win the Presidency and shape the Supreme Court.
if you're unable to form coalitions you won't survive.
Karl Rove is not your enemy. Drop the RINO name-calling silliness and have honest, straight forward debates on policies. You play into the opposition's hands when you demonize competitors that are on the same team.

you're probably right about Government never getting out of their politically driven relationship with marriage laws. I guess the only thing one can do is to try to set an attractive example.

The Government should get out of the marriage business and set up rules based on family instead. Changing the definition of the ceremony of marriage trivialized the only ceremony that celebrates the one kind union that preserves the human species on our planet. The union of 1 man and 1 woman creates human life - now there is no recognition of that unique coupling.

The Government could set up rules based on family and not marriage. The point I was making was about changing the definition of the ceremony of marriage. The only ceremony that celebrates the one kind union that preserves the human species on our planet. The union of 1 man and 1 woman creates human life - now there is no recognition of that unique coupling. Seems like a bit of an oversight doesn't it?
