Just remember who is to blame. They have been circumventing the constitution for a very long time. When the day comes, and it will, all democrats, progressives and liberals are fair game. I'm going to get my fair share, if I live to see it. As for the present, I'm NOT going to let them DO THIS TO ME. Liberty or death, and I have every intention of going out on my terms. I'm done with the government, they can kiss my backside. When jug ears dies, we'll find out he isn't so special. As for Roberts, since when is it a TAX if you don't do something, f'n maggot!!!

There is precedence for this action. Look at our 401k laws. You have the right to take out your money early, but - by law - if you do, you will be subject to a penalty equal to 10% of the money you withdrawal. Is this a "tax"? I don't think so, but the IRS sure does collect it when you fill out your 1040, so...

does the government force you to be in a 401k?

You are not compelled by law to put money into a 401(k) or even get off of the couch and create one.

By the way, do you pay the "tax" to the bank or the government? With Obamacare, we get to pay the "tax" to the insurance company.

The MANDATE is the requirement to purchase insurance.

The PENALTY is what is paid in the event you fail to obey the mandate.

The government is ORDERING us to give money to PRIVATE CORPORATIONS and purchase PLANS that they (the Federal govt and DHHS) will develop....not unlike the deal Obama made with Big Pharma.

When did you guys fall in love with corporations?

well said...this 4th of july i will not be flying my flag as the republic is effectively ka-put!

The verdict is in, and it's a major disappointment to Obamacare opponents.  CNN initially reported that the individual mandate had been struck down under the Commerce Clause, then corrected its reporting: Obamacare has been upheld as a tax.  It looks like Obamacare's Medicaid expansion has been limited, but not struck down.  Chief Justice Roberts has reportedly joined the Left flank of the Court, authoring the decision (the key bits are on pages 31, 32).

Confirmed:  The decision was 5-4, with Justices Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas and Alito dissenting. According to SCOTUS blog, the four dissenters were prepared to strike...
