In today’s dicey job market, thousands of U.S. jobs are being threatened, but not only by foreign competition, financial collapse, or one of the other common foes of employment we are used to seeing in the headlines. The enemy of vast numbers of American retail workers is an unfair sales tax policy that targets local, brick-and-mortar businesses with the responsibility of collecting and remitting sales tax while allowing Internet-based merchants off the hook.
