Would we be better off or worse off if we knew what the core valuse and principals were of the candidates who seek these offices? Would we be better off or worse off if we really knew what their solution was for the big problems we faced as a country?

The point, in this country, is not whether we would be better off, the point is that our freedoms are rather usely if we cannot get the facts. The point of a free press in a republic with democratic institutions is to get out the facts, analysis, and opinions to the public can make an informed choice. This doesn't mean the public will make, in hindsight, the right choice, but at least an informced choice. If those in the media are not only biased, but really lack the critical thinking skills to understand the issues, then we get garbage. You know the old saying, garbage in, garbage out. I was in class with what is now your media standard bearers, they were not only biased, but seriously lacked critical thinking, but they looked good.

I meant our freedoms are "rather useless". Oops.

News organization reminds me of Joseph Goebbels, head of Nazi Germany's Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. Their use of propaganda for Obama and his socialist liberals' are a prototype of the modern spin doctors in the main stream media today. There are no news reporters today, but we have liberal cheerleaders reading the whitehouse talking points.
The challenge for modern-day campaigns is that the rapid speed of the news cycle ensures that new news is created on a daily basis, even when it is not really news. Blame the hunger for something novel and fresh that can eat up time on the 24-hour cable news channels.

Think of today's news organizations as insatiable beasts whose ravenous appetites constantly need more and more news bites, and more analysis about those news bites. The desire for more content for their viewers and readers means that they deem everything new to be newsworthy, or at least newsworthy enough...
