America Needs a Healthcare Recall!

As long as medical inflation is as high as it is, you cannot possibly solve the cost problem with healthcare. So, the question we should ask ourselves is why is medical inflation so high? What is causing medical inflation to be as high as it is? What has to happen to reduce the influcence of medical inflation on rising healthcare cost. When you figure that out and have a way to reduce the medical inflation rate, you will have solved the cost problem. Is health insurance the answer? Will it reduce the medical inflation rate? Or is the only way to reduce the medical inflation rate is to return the rationing decision back to where it belongs, to the user of the service?

President Obama has called for a half-day, bipartisan healthcare summit at the Blair House on February 25th, “I want to…have a large meeting, Republicans and Democrats, to go through systematically all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward.” But the President refuses to start from scratch, and Republicans fear that a half-day event focusing on thousands of pages from a rejected healthcare plan is nothing more than a political trap. Is it time to move beyond complex, expensive healthcare fixes and “recall” America’s healthcare system to make the systemic changes that are necessary?
