Israel must decide what it wants to do. So far, they have opted to make the lives of Palestinians as miserable as possible in the hope that the palestinians wll finally accept an apartheid like future for themselves. So, the violence will continue and nothing will be solved until one side changes it's policy goals.

If the palestinians had ever made a move towards actual peace, rather than selecting leaders who promise more violence, they might have a leg to stand on.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's planned visit to the Middle East today was enough to force Egypt into pressuring Hamas into a truce with Israel. According to Reuters, Egypt brokered a deal that would stop the fighting just hours before Israel planned a ground invasion into Gaza. Naturally although a truce has been reached, the Muslim Brotherhood's President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi blamed Israel for the violence in statements about the agreement.
