If I quoted phrases from Hitler's diary regarding genocide, a good Nazi could argue that I took his quotes out of context. In fact, this site continuously quotemines as shamelessly as anybody. You do not have to read an entire book in order to understand some elements in the bible, namely how sick and backward these tribes were, as stated by Amy, but without the commentary I gave. Those who continuously claim quotes are out of context are defending the indefensible.
