The 2nd was about allowing states to form MILITIAS, NOT for the right of individuals to arm themselves:"In the beginning, there were the militias. In the South, they were also called the "slave patrols," and they were regulated by the states. In Georgia, for example, a generation before the American Revolution, laws were passed in 1755 and 1757 that required all plantation owners or their male white employees to be members of the Georgia Militia, and for those armed militia members to make monthly inspections of the quarters of all slaves in the state. The law defined which counties had which armed militias and even required armed militia members to keep a keen eye out for slaves who may be planning uprisings. "

Are you saying that people who believe in the second Amendment, such as Obama himself, are racists?

Fine. Except that abolitionist states also ratified the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Here's some news for you. There are states in the North that have articles in their respective constitutions that preserve a citizen's right to own and bear arms. So your point is......?

Jumping out ahead of Washington, New York state enacted the nation's toughest gun restrictions Tuesday and the first since the Connecticut school massacre, including an expanded assault-weapon ban and background checks for buying ammunition.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the measure into law less than an hour after it won final passage in the Legislature, with supporters hailing it as a model for the nation and gun-rights activists condemning it...
