Bush was never "prochoice". Ann actually is making sense on the endless "lowering taxes always increases revenue" song. If that were so we would eventually be at a zero tax rate and maximized revenue. Sorry, that's asinine. Lowering CAPITAL GAINS taxes after a period when they have been VERY HIGH causes people to cash in lots of trades that have been hanging out there. However, they next year and the next those sales aren't THERE anymore. sorry, Charlie. Rush was screaming for a lower rate on property taxes awhile back, insisting that revenues would skyrocket. HOW?? Eh?? there MIGHT be a small increase in building homes, but 99 percent of property taxes are on already existing homes. THIMK.

That isn't the only reason a low capital gains rate makes sense. It also fosters the formation of capital, and incentivizes the investment in new infrastructure and technology.

For example, why would Republicans support sending more troops to Afghanistan, when that war was long over, or helping topple Moammar Gadhafi, who had become an ally in the war on terrorism? Some Republicans seem to support all military deployments just out of habit.
