Childhood Obesity and National Security

When is anyone going to make the case that anti-obesity campaigns are ripe with possible bigotry??? Imagine if we had campaigns to reduce homosexuality? That would never fly with the leftwing PC police. And yet, weight is as much "genetic" in many cases as apparently homosexuality is. I worry that hyper-obsessing over weight, especially the weight of children, is going to lead to bad body image issues, greater incidence of bulimia and other eating disorders, as well as discrimination against kids who are overweight. All I can say to Michelle Obama and other weight crusaders: Leave me and my family the HELL alone. Work on yourself and let us eat what we want you food bullies. If Michelle Obama wants to tackle "obesity" how about...

Obama's New 'Gay' Force

Nic16 Wrote: Dec 19, 2010 8:42 PM
Exactly. I asked a gay friend point blank if he was born that way, and he said he was not. He said he clearly had a choice. Early in life he remembers choosing to go play jump rope with girls, and he just never could face up to the rough and tumble world of boys. He is the most wonderful person. And I don't judge him. But to delude ourselves that people are simply "born gay" is going to have harmful consequences. If it is genetic, we would expect to see homosexuality equally prevalent in all societies at random, regardless of socioeconomic status or race. The fact remains that white uppermiddleclass males have more prevalence of homosexuality than other races and socioeconomic groups. Moreover, sexual orientation is not immutable....

I think it's great Chuck is making parents aware of this program. I was raised Mormon, and I had my elective religious classes in high school, and it was an uplifting part of my day, even if I was a bit of a rebel at times. I have no problem with Bible curriculum being offered as an elective to high school students. It can only do them good. Chuck is making an important point. Our history is being DISTORTED and perverted to wipe God out. Frankly, I skipped over his self-promotion paragraphs because I'm not currently in the market for that, but it's nice to know it's there. For someone else, it may be just the thing they were looking for.

Excellent. I hadn't really thought about the point that extended unemployment benefits raises the cost of hiring. Not only just because of rising premiums for unemployment insurance, but also that people have no incentive to take a lower paying job to get by. Anything beneath there benefit is suddenly not attractive. Essentially, we are taking more from people who work and giving it to people who don't work while forcing people who need work done to pay more for workers. Our brilliant goverment at work. Reminds me of the lovely Cash4Clunkers program.

We're new to Pennsylvania and we were planning on visiting Independence Hall, Chuck ... Thanks for your insights. It would be great if there were a conservative/traditional tour guides or audio tours we could purchase. I had also read a long time ago the Philadelphia specifically requires tour guides in the city to take a history "test" and be licensed. (No doubt so the standardized lefty history can be taught without any deviance.) So, for this person to say this tour guide was acting on their own is flat out a lie. They're acting at the behest of the liberal city council who passed this inane "licensing" law. Here's a link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123837324299067943.html

Trolls ... You just keep trolling. Judgment Day awaits. Obama is an empty suit. He may have gone to Harvard, and he may be an expert in reading from a teleprompter, but he has never governed anything. He is showing the inexperience of not knowing how to run an organization, and that's not even beginning to talk about the insanity of his radical plans.

On the campaign Obam was asked if he would still raise taxes during a recession. He said no, that wouldn't be smart. But now that's exactly what he's doing with cap/tax, and health reform. Oh, but "it's only a little bit ... for the very rich."

Higher taxes in a recession?

And you guys think Sarah Palin is dumb.

Why trouble yourself on Townhall belittling Sarah Palin. I'm sure you'd feel more comfortable over at Daily Kos or Huff Po.

I didn't see the speech, but I saw excerpts of it. The troubling aspect to me is when he said, something to the effect of:

"We're not truly free when some must still struggle ... "

I'm sorry but life IS struggle. He has some utopian idea that only some of us still struggle? Even the richest person in the world has to struggle: against their own nature, and against the visicitudes of life.

Life is struggle.

And Obama wants to eliminate the struggle that any of us might face.

Sounds like a recipe for tyranny.

I've met Sarah Palin. I've met her Dad and her aunt Katie. I've seen her speak twice. She's the ultimate retail politician and I say that as a daughter of merchants who always put the customer first. Sarah reminds me my small-business owner parents: folksy, humble, and yet uncannily successful because they understood the principle. It's about the PEOPLE. Every person who walked into my parents' flower shop felt special, felt that they were the most important person in the room.

Sarah Palin makes her fans feel that way. She looks you in the eye, shakes your hand firmly, asks about YOU.

When she addresses a crowd, she speaks to the local narrative. She knows the local players. She is prepared. I see that as a constrast with...
