While common core is allowing a downgrade in math standards, I think the real threat is in the teaching of History and Science, and the choice of materials given in reading. When I saw that Bill Ayres, of all people, was invited to speak to a NJEA affiliate, I wondered why any group,supposed to care about children, would give audience to a man with his record and opinions. The main drift of his life has been to break the USA in any way possible, but especially by propaganda and breaking the bank. A bomber, married to a bomber.

this new education system will create very mediocre adults who are unable to think for themselves, learn from history and become independent of gov't. they are creating many little peons who will work at what gov't tells them, will not become enterpreneurs and successful professionals. this system is developed to create the dumbed down future voters who will continue to vote for the likes of pelosi, obama and biden. would the educated american would ever vote for BH?

For decades, collectivist agitators in our schools have chipped away at academic excellence in the name of fairness, diversity and social justice. "Progressive" reformers denounced Western civilization requirements, the Founding Fathers and the Great Books as racist. They attacked traditional grammar classes as irrelevant in modern life. They deemed ability grouping of students (tracking) bad for self-esteem. They replaced time-tested rote techniques and standard algorithms with fuzzy math, inventive spelling and multicultural claptrap.
