Actually the blue states pay the most in federal taxes and transfer them to the red states, the blue states have most of the millionaires and billionaires, the high tech capital of the world, the financial capital of the world, the top universities. The blue states are what make America great. What do the red states do and what value do they provide to the Union?

We could get our food cheaper if we imported it. We subsidize (i.e. agricultural welfare) our farmers though a number of socialist policies. We set floors for the price of milk, we put tariffs on OJ, we pay farmers not to farm so that they don't overwhelm the market with too much supply, driving prices down, etc..

If we imported our food, we'd get it cheaper and be better off as consumer, not only because these policies wouldn't be in place, but also because we could import our farming from countries who pay pennies in wages just like we do our goods and other manufactured stuff.

So again, we're worse off with the Red states in the Union given we have to waste federal tax dollars to subsidize these socialist policies.
